September is considered the
change up month of the year. The month where it signifies
the end of summer, back to school, starting of football
seasons, and…ah yes, the baseball pennant races getting
heated. Yes, the heat is rising in Philadelphia with those
Phillies. At this present time, they hold a grip on the
wild card and are sitting on the door step of the division
leading Atlanta Braves. It’s getting so hot that this
batch of Phightins will need this coming month to fine tune
their bosal wood bats into tree trunks for a possible read

On the verge of the pre-season
finale versus Rex Ryan and the New York Jets, the Eagles
are at the point where decisions must be made concerning
the final 53 man roster. Thus far this preseason the Eagles
have seen players emerge to provide answers to questions,
but have also seen new concerns and questions arise. The
defense was seen as the major area of concern. The focus
of the draft was to add depth, versatility, and youth to
a stagnant defensive unit. Entering read

Fans at the Wachovia Center
(now the Wells Fargo Center) just needed to hear the horn
sound and Bro Hymn by Pennywise just one more time. The Flyers
2009-2010 postseason run may be considered the best story
the NHL has seen in years. In that playoff run, the Flyers
cruised past upset the 2nd seeded New Jersey Devils in the
first round of the playoffs, came from behind in a 3-0 series
deficit to upset the Boston Bruins and completely annihilated
the Montreal Canadiens in the Conference Finals. The Flyers

Stefanski associate to save the Sixers, again
The Philadelphia Sixers have hired another
one of Ed Stefanski’s former employees, or as Ed likes
to call them “friends”. The pressure of balancing
two positions will be taken off of Stefanski’s shoulders.
Rod Thorn, former president of the New Jersey Nets, will keep
the same title of president just now with a different team.
Stefanski will now focus on the general manager’s duties.
The ironic part of the story is that Thorn left New Jersey

Last year, the Big Five could be characterized
by “The Good, The Bad and the Ugly.” The older
among us will revel in the parity that existed in previous
generations of Philadelphia college basketball, often yielding
the most interesting of battles. This current brand of Big
5 basketball has not displayed the consistent equality on
the floor and quitefrankly,
this year looks to be no different as the five teams clearly
fill the roles of the good, the bad and

1. Drew Brees –
New Orleans Saints – BYE: 10 Now
I am a big believer in the Madden Curse, but with all the
weapons on offense for the Saints it is hard not to put Brees
at number one for the quarterback position. Something to be
worry of with Brees is that most quarterbacks after winning
a Super Bowl do not perform as well the following season.
Other than that Brees should put up some solid numbers. Prediction:
4,512 passing yards – 29 touchdowns – 12 interceptionsread

I hope everyone enjoyed it. I hope everyone
savored the best night in Philadelphia sports history in the
last 25 years, Wednesday October 29, 2008. It was the day
the Phillies won their second World Series title in franchise
history, but it was also the day the 25 year professional
sports drought ended in the city of Brotherly Love. I hope
everyone enjoyed the celebration. I hope everyone partied
like there was no tomorrow. Capture the image of
